Social media: Honestly, I just try to interact and be entertaining on social media. I think people appreciate genuine and have engaged well.
Great covers: I usually have a general theme in mind but I like to turn the creativity over to the cover designer - they always outdo my expectations. My designer, Melinda DeRoss, does a great job at getting the covers to represent the theme of the book.
Primary genre: My genre is medical action/thriller. I've often seen advice to writers to "write what you know" so that's what I do. There's so many storyline directions to go in this genre that I don't see stepping out of it anytime soon.
Free books: I have a mixed opinion about free book deals. On the one hand, it seems to be what much of the public wants. On the other hand, I don't know that it's really all that effective as a marketing approach.
Your series, "Jack Bass, MD," being actively discussed for a TV series: It is a thrill - albeit an unexpected one. It was a word-of-mouth process. A promoter I was working with liked it and referred it to a scriptwriter who referred it to a producer and they decided to pursue it.
Reviews have become a real challenge for me. Seems like your "routine" readers just aren't doing them much anymore.
Do No Harm: They are a great bunch of authors! My main goal was to put together a good set of interesting medical thrillers that readers will enjoy. Secondarily, the ability for authors to all cross promote and have the readers of 17 authors as a fan base vs. just one author was very appealing. And, of course, we all agreed to support a couple of very worthy charities, Operation Renewed Hope Foundation and AniCira.

Next: I have a new thriller series featuring FBI Agent Victoria Heslin. The Numbers Killer releases on May 30th and book two in the series, Pretty Little Girls, will be published in the fall of 2019.
Personal appearances: I have done a lot of interviews and book club appearances in the past. Those are for exposure, and I’m always so grateful to be invited. Book clubs are the best. Everyone has already read the book and they have interesting questions.
Covers: Professional covers are one of my biggest expenses. I really want them to do their job well by representing the tone of my work and generating sales in their genre.
Audio books are a growing market and every novel should have one, provided the book has a good producer. I recommend audio books as an additional source of revenue.
Short stories: The horror story collections I’ve participated in sell very well at a low price point. They exist to expose new readers to our work.
My primary genre is thriller—psychological and medical, and my approach has been to stay consistent with my work to establish a brand.
Free books: I love talking marketing! It’s a bit of a strategy game and it’s always exciting when the strategy pays off. Giving books away for free has been the single best marketing strategy for me, so far.
Reader list: I have a group called “Ruff’s Readers.” Until recently, my email list wasn’t that big, but they were all “top-quality” fans because they signed up to be part of my group without enticemen…
Do No Harm: I started noticing the author box sets last year and I was intrigued. Do No Harm is the first set to invite me to join. I received an email from one of the authors heading up the set and I said yes!

Next: Vegan Baked Alaska is slated for release on June 21, 2019. Erin needs a little break from everything that has been happening in Bald Eagle Falls (you can only be subjected to so many murders, thefts, fires, and threats before it gets to be a bit much.) She ends up on a cruise to Alaska, far from civilization and criminal conspiracies, where the biggest problem should be that she wasn’t expecting it to be a vegan cruise.
Personal appearances: I am ramping up now for the writer’s conference in Calgary in August, When Words Collide. I have been going to this conference for several years now, and it has produced some great friendships, contacts, and follow-up events. I will probably speak on 3-4 panels.
Covers: I actually do most of my own cover design. I usually work out a title and cover concept before I begin writing the book, which is a great way to inspire myself and give myself something to look at instead of staring blankly at the wall when I am working through a difficult chapter.
Audio books: I am thinking of getting some of my mystery series converted into audio books, which I think would be a good way to refresh the audience. I love the audio books that I have done so far, but they are in very small niches and don’t sell a lot.
Primary genre: Mystery/suspense is my primary genre right now. I started out mostly in YA contemporary, but there isn’t a big audience for YA contemporary without a big publisher doing the marketing.
Reader list: I have a newsletter list of around 14,000 people. Many of them have come from multi-author cross promotions, Bookfunnel offerings, or other book magnets. I put out a newsletter every Friday, publish at least two blogs a week, and try to post regularly on Facebook.
I want my newsletter subscribers to see me as a trusted source for new book suggestions, issues of the day, and of course my new releases and promos. My website views always go up the day my newsletter goes out…
Marketing foreign language translations can be difficult, and sometimes when I try to run a promo, the price is not adjusted when it is supposed to be, which can cause difficulties. But I do get a trickle of sales of foreign language editions.
Do No Harm: I wanted to reach a wider audience and possibly help launch a bestseller. We had a great author party on Facebook the other day, with each of the authors involved taking over for half an hour or an hour. I have done

Uvi earned her B. A. in Architecture and Town Planning from the Technion in Haifa, Israel and practiced with an innovative Architectural firm, taking a major part in the large-scale project, called Home for the Soldier.
Having moved to Troy, N.Y. with her husband and two children, Uvi received a Fellowship grant and a Teaching Assistantship from the Architecture department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her poetry book, Home, is in tribute to her father. Her collection of dark tales, Twisted, and her Historical Fiction book, A Favorite Son, are both new age, biblically inspired books. In addition, Uvi wrote and illustrated two children books, Jess and Wiggle and Now I Am Paper. For each one of these books, she created an animation video (find them on YouTube and on her Goodreads page.)
