Oooh, a road-trip story, Texas style!

I just finished The Key to Kristina by Joan Reeves and wanted to do a quick review while my thoughts are fresh. Ms. Reeves is not a new author to me--she has quite a backlist from which I’ve indulged--so I expected a good, solid story, but wow! This was great! Maybe my favorite of all her books, and that’s saying something.

The Key to Kristina is a simmering, not-until-it’s-ready, slow-burn romance, one of my favorite kinds. No “insta-love” here. Thankfully. It helps that the main characters Kristina and Wyatt are relatable, worth getting to know as a reader, as they get to know each other. Add to that a clever and intriguing mystery, and you’ve got the whole package. Yum!

Love isn’t always easy. Love is an about romance in all the time. Love can be hard and cruel and funny. This author took three different stories and three each story you saw the hardships of how love can be. It can be funny at times and heartbreaking at times. We can be on the road we think is right and find out there’s something better for us if we look closer. Enjoy this book I did

S.R. Mallery has always been one of my favorite historical fiction authors but now she’s quickly becoming my favorite cozy mystery writer as well. Brooke and Abby are back and I couldn’t be more excited! As with book one in the series, there’s a murder to investigate, but this one isn’t so clear-cut. An actor dies, supposedly from forgetting to take his medication, but soon the team realizes that he had far too many enemies among his fellow crew members and that his past wasn’t all that squeaky clean. But who would want him dead and why?

Once again, Ms. Mallery employs a time travel device that quickly transformed a cozy mystery into something even more fascinating. Through her characters’ eyes (one character - sorry, no spoilers!) we get to explore an Ancient Roman court full of intrigues and conspiracies. There will be a crime committed here too, but will it offer any clues or something else will? You’ll need to read it to find out.

The story is rich with detail and adventure, of course. There are moments of humor, but this book has a serious tone that it deserves, and I am as drawn to it as a vaquita is to a squid. Learning about these beautiful little porpoises was a real thrill. I wanted to be there in person so badly, to help, and to watch and be part of the big operation. I love the sea, but must live vicariously through Hetta’s expert handling of a large motor yacht and her willingness to lend her dearest friends a hand at any time. Adventure, often danger, and always good rewards come to those who read Jinx Schwartz’s amazing books. I wish even greater rewards for the sweet-faced little vaquita, and I intend to find out more about these beautiful little porpoises, our mammalian friends in the sea.

I always enjoy Dianne's books and this one is just as pleasurable. Dianne has several series, each very different but excellent cozy mysteries. The mystery here was intriguing and I couldn't stop reading until I finished the book.

Maggie Toussaint's new series had me salivating. Not only is River Holloway a sought-after caterer on Georgia's Shell island, she's an amateur sleuth who finds her prey. What starts out as a missing person case, turns into murder. Not to worry, River is on the case, and between a smorgasbord of potential suspects and a menu of dishes, I was riveted to the end.

Such an enjoyable read. I love Dr. Hookie. This book is a fun read and I learned some interesting things. The characters are great as they deal with problems at the high tech medical center. Genetics is fascinating and these cases they are working on are both interesting and informative. If you enjoy Dr. Ebel's medical mysteries, you will love this one.

Fantastic start to the Big Man On Campus series with a sizzling college sports enemies-to-lovers romance that immediately drew me in and kept me totally involved in all that was happening through the entire book. The characters were realistic and I rooted for them through all the emotions and just couldn't put the book down because I had to know what was going to happen. If you enjoy bad boy college romance, don't miss "Big Man on Campus". I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
