Once upon a time, there was a young story teller in the kingdom...er, queendom. Then she grew up and... er, no... she never actually did grow up. That's not to say she didn't get old, or more old, but not terribly old, more like middle-aged really. Okay, so she was no longer short and cute.
But really, I always did like to make up stories. Still do. Still live in my own little world--where I'm Queen. Of the Queendom. Hence, the name. (Or whence the name?) Oh, what's in a name anyway.
Now I'm sure you're wondering how I manage to live, but I assure you I am quite competent. Except I couldn't get the crown to actually sit on my head in the picture to the left. Still learning...
Oh, about me. I love cats. I have a girl cat, a princess technically. Named Kitty. No, I'm serious. Long story. No, I don't have time. Or space.
Okay, so I do not have the inclination.
More about me. I spend hours, days, weeks, months (you get the picture) sitting at my desk, looking out the window of my castle/bedroom and writing complete fabrications in a romantic whimsical vein. Alright, if you insist, you can call the writing quirky. But I do keep myself amused.
Yes, it's true, and entirely believable, I do have a college degree. I'm not saying when I obtained said degree, however. Go UConn!
Where do I live (for real) you ask? Among the picturesque lake-filled hills and dales (not sure what a dale is) of New Hampshire (the Granite State) (Live Free or Die) (Tough choice, but there's a lot of tough people around here).
What else do I do besides write presumably fabulous romantic stories with noble heroes and amazing, warm heroines who you want to be just like? As if that's not enough, I sometimes deign to teach, cook for the two gigantic very well-muscled sons and try to make sure Kitty doesn't take over the house while I'm away in the Queendom. (That's no joke. The cat's a control freak.)
I actually have a very rich non-imaginary life. Right at the moment, however, I can't think for the life of me what else it's all about. Maybe I'll think more about it later and get back to you…

Congratulations on your book: Margo & George Forever? What do you have on the drawing board next? Do we have another novel from the Beachcomber Investigations series coming or another Romantic Comedy? Can you tell us the timeline for its release and give us a little tease?
Thank you, James. Next up is book 9 in the Beachcomber Investigations romantic detective series, BEACHCOMBER GONE. It will be out on November 25th on all platforms. Here's the snap on the story:

Do you do any book signings, interviews, speaking and personal appearances? If so, when and where is the next place where your readers can see you? Where can they keep up with your personal contacts online?
I'll be speaking next at Hampstead Public Library and others in early February with other romance authors to celebrate Valentine’s Day with local romance readers.
I also love speaking at local writers groups, at conferences and book clubs when I have the chance. Writing and books are my favorite topics of conversation!

You have great covers. They carry a theme and your brand with them. How does your book cover creation process work? Do you hand over the basic theme or do you have more of a hands-on approach? Do you get your readers involved in its development?
Thank you! I love my covers and developed the theme/brand over time. I work with Cover Designer Michele Hauf who is a saint and a genius. We work very closely on the design. I often find the photos of the people and backgrounds. And it's funny you should ask about reader in put--when I'm prevaricating on more than one version of a cover, I will often ask the members of my Stephanie Queen Team for their input. We have a Facebook Group for team members and it works very well. We've improved our designs and made tough choices with the help of my great team.
You have a great book trailer for the Beachcomber Investigations Series. It looks very professional. Do you know how much impact it has had on your series’ success? Tell us about the process that you used to create your trailer? Do you use the trailer in your character development? Are the pictures and background the way you see your characters and scenes?
I did have one professionally made and also made a number of them myself. I'm not sure about the impact on success, but I enjoy book trailers and have a Youtube channel which I've been working on populating because it's one of the more enjoyable social media places for me. Beachcombers Book Trailer
As for creation, I've used everything from iMovie (which is difficult and powerful) to Kizoa which is quick and easy movie-making platform.
Several of your novels have been converted into audio books. What has been the impact on your regular sales? Has the audio books gained a new audience for you?
I love audiobooks. As a big consumer of them, I recognize their value and wanted to get as many of my books into audio as possible. I'm still working on getting my Beachcomber Investigations series into audio and will be releasing Let It Snow in audio for this Christmas season. It's a fun, but time-consuming process. I'm not sure about a cross-over audience, but I know there is a ravenous audio audience since I'm one of them!
You have written several novellas. Can you tell us if they had an impact on the sales of your novels? Are shorty’s one of your styles of writing or are they created to give readers a sample of your work? Do you feel short reads are a product of our email and smart phone age?
I resisted writing novellas and in fact, I used to write very long. But as I've gained writing experience, I've found it easier to do and enjoyable. I write novellas chiefly to keep series readers happy, but also to contribute to multi-author boxed sets, especially around the holidays. I've found the multi-author box sets in particular to be a good way to introduce my writing to new readers.
Short reads do seem to be more popular these days, maybe as a by-product of busy, segmented lives. It's fun to be able to finish an entire story in one short sitting. So many people don't have the luxury of endless hours for reading!
What is your primary genre? What has been your best marketing approach to this group?
My primary genre is romantic suspense with contemporary romance a close second. The line often gets blurred here I've noticed and there's lots of cross over. I have an good sized mailing list targeted to these genres and this has been the main focus of my marketing, in addition to multi-author boxed sets target to these genres
Do you maintain a reader list? What are the methods you use to find your readers and create the list and the relationship? Do you use social media, forums, newsletters and/or support groups to build your list?
My reader list, or newsletter list has been built in a variety of ways. Some purely organic, some people I meet at in-person events, some through rafflecopter contests and giveaways. I haven't found social media to be a great way to build lists, but advertising does.
I like the idea of Author bundles. You are a part of a several novel collections including Love Under Fire with twenty other authors. What a great group of outstanding people. (Many have been interviewed on this blog). What was your main objective in bundling your works with other authors? How do you communicate? How did you get involved with this group?
Author bundles or box sets are terrific fun for me. It's a chance to work fairly closely with a group of authors over a few months and really get to know them. So even if these sets didn't help with cross promoting readers among the authors--which they do--I would still be involved with them. We communicate through a private Facebook Group. I regularly network with other authors, mostly in my genres and that's how I found the Love Under Fire group, It's one of the most professional, hardworking, ambitious and all-around-nice group of authors I've worked with--and I've worked with quite a few. I've been in more than 15 multi-author box sets including 3 USA Today bestselling sets.
