Well, perfect is a nice goal but it's not realistic so push forward!!! Make the time. My first milestone was just getting a manuscript FINISHED. Then I set the goal of finding an agent, then a publisher, and on and on. You've captured my reluctance/procrastina...Yes! You've captured my reluctance/procrastination/fears perfectly. I'm working on my first novel and have the darndest time just making myself sit down and write even though the story is constantly churning in my head. Once the words finally do make it to the page, I'm a fiend for editing -- so much so that I constantly re-edit what I've already written rather than adding more to the story. And I don't even have kids to feel guilty about neglecting (but my dog fills that role even better). Thanks for helping me realize that I'm not alone in my lack of progress.
